How to Install a Boost Gauge on an Audi

1. Choose which vent you are going to install the gauge in and remove it by pulling it out. Inspect the vent to see if the gauge will fit into it. You may have to trim the rear flap of the vent to allow the gauge to sit in it.
2. Hold the boost gauge against the vent and draw a circle with a pen or white pencil around it to mark where the cut is going to go.
3. Use a dremel with a small cutting wheel and carefully trim the hole that you have traced. Test fit the gauge to make sure it fits in the trimmed hole very snugly. Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
4. Drill a small hole in the ducting that leads to the vent to allow the pressure tube for the gauge to go through. Run the tube through it. This should be included with the gauge.
5. Remove the trim located below the steering wheel and remove it. There are probably three or four 8-mm nuts.
6. Open the hood. At the rear of the engine on the left side of the brake fluid reservoir are two rubber seals. Remove them both, exposing two holes.
7. From under the steering column, route the gauge tube through the holes. Make small holes in the rubber seals for the tube. Run the tube through the seals and then reinstall the seals.
8. Connect the gauge to the intake manifold by cutting the hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator and installing a T adapter for the gauge hose.
9. Hook up the power wire for the gauge to an existing wiring harness that goes to the factory gauges. Ground the black wire that is on the gauge to a suitable ground in the dash. Reinstall the vent and gauge and test it to make sure it works.

How to Replace Car Tires

1.
Before you run to the tire store and buy a new set of tires, first determine if you need to replace your tires. A tire is normally deemed unsafe to drive on if the tread depth is 2/32 of an inch or less (a new tire usually has 10/32). A quick way to check this is to invert a penny and place it in the tread of the tire. If you can see the top of Abraham Lincolns head, the tires need replaced.New research has recommended doing this test with a quarter instead of a penny. Your tires will be replaced sooner, but you will be able to stop quicker on wet pavement.
2.
Once you have determined that you need new tires, you need to find out what size tire you need. The sidewall of your current tires should have the size printed on it; however, I would not recommend using this information, unless you purchased your vehicle brand new. Any previous owners of your vehicle may have purchased the wrong size tire. You can find the correct size on the tire placard. Depending on the car, you may find this information on the vehicle door edge, door post, glove box door, or fuel door. The size will look like P###/##R##. For example, my vehicles tire size is P205/65R15.
3.
As you begin looking for tires, you will find that there are many types and styles of tires. When you buy tires, try to buy tires that match your needs. M&S or Mud and Snow tires are the most popular and will probably work for most people. There are also winter tires designed for driving in snow, slush, ice, and cold dry highways. If you use your car to tow or haul heavy items, you will want to check the load index of the tire. The larger the number, the more weight the tire can tolerate without performance suffering. Next to the load index will be a letter which represents the Speed Rating. The letters are not in order; however, the lowest rating is a Q which represents a test speed of up to 100 mph. It is NEVER recommended to exceed posted speed limits on the roads you drive.
4.
Other information you may find useful is the tire warranty. Some tires do not have a warranty (like winter tires and some high performance tires). In general, touring tires will have a higher tread life warranty. The reason is because the tires are made of a harder rubber and do not wear away as quickly. Since they are made of a harder rubber, though, some performance is lost for cornering and wet weather traction is also sacrificed. If you have a warranty claim, you will pay a prorated price for your next set of tires based on how long your old tires lasted compared to how long they were expected to last.
5.
Finally, consider the look of the tire. Personally, I like an all black tire. Some people like tires with a white wall. Other people like raised white letters on their tires. When shopping for tires, be sure to select a tire style that fits you and your cars personality. Be aware that some tires can be mounted in more than one way. For example, a tire with raised white letters may be able to be installed so that the lettering is towards the vehicle showing a smooth black tire towards the outside.

How to Install Rear Wheel Bearings in a Mercedes

1. Park your car on a flat, level surface. Jack your car up and put it securely on jack stands.
2. Remove the wheel and the hub by placing a screwdriver on the edge of the hub. Use a hammer and hit the hub out toward you.
3. Use an Allen wrench to loosen the retaining nut.
4. Remove two bolts that are 21 mm in size. The bolts hold the caliper on the steering knuckle. To remove the bolts use an impact wrench or 18-inch spanner. Make sure you get the right bolts. There are two others that are the same size that hold on the steering mechanism. You want to remove the bolts that hold the caliper.
5. Compress the brake pads to remove the caliper. When removing the caliper, do not kink the brake line. Hang the brake line with a coat hanger or string. Do not let the caliper dangle on the brake line.
6. Remove the outer bearing.
7. Remove the grease seal with a screw driver and hammer. Pry it out and remove the inner seal. The grease seal is destroyed during removal, so remember to use a new seal after you have replaced the inner bearing.
8. Clean out all the grease.
9. Put a new inner bearing in and put a little more grease around the bearing.
10. Put a new grease seal in place and tap down evenly. You may have to hit it hard. Use a 2-by-4 to get even force.

How to Shift Into 5th Gear in the Mercedes Benz Motorhome

1. Start the motor home engine and press on the brake.
2. Move the gear shift into the D position. When your gear shift is in D, the vehicle will move up and down from first to fifth gear, depending on the current speed and conditions. For the simplest driving experience, and one that gives you the option of being in fifth, simply leave your gear shift in D all the time.
3. Shift your gears up manually, if you so desire, by pressing the gear shift to the right toward the D+ symbol. Move your gears up or down by pressing the shifter toward D+ to shift up, or toward D- to shift down. The gear shown on the display after moving the lever is the highest gear the motor home is set to. If your display shows 4 for example, but now you want to shift to fifth, simply press the lever toward D+ until the D symbol displays. This allows the use of all possible gears, including fifth. That function still does not guarantee your motor home will shift up to fifth, since the transmission is still automatic, but it gives the motor home the option of shifting into fifth.
